Introducing: My Ladies

It’s time for me to ‘fess up. I didn’t actually write Strong & Wise.

Well, my fingers did the typing and my brain did a bunch of editing, but the content itself was taken in dictation – sort of.

Let me back up a bit.

When I was little, I remember lying in bed “talking” to my friends. No one was physically with me in my bedroom, I just knew “my friends” were there. I’d tell them all about my day and eventually sleep would come and silence the conversation.

This went on for years. Each evening, I fell asleep surrounded by love. Whenever I felt worried, my friends would assure me that everything was going to be okay.

But one night, my friends weren’t… Continue reading

Hunny the Pit-Bunny

For the past 12 years we’ve had the pleasure of a “Pit-Bunny” living in our house. Technically, this Pit-Bunny was a Boxer/Pit-bull mix dog but since Hunny was such a gentle soul, we dubbed her a “Pit-Bunny.”

Hunny’s sweet nature mixed with deep loyalty and a touch of goofiness made for a remarkable dog.

Getting Picked By SPIRIT

I teach Strong & Wise as part of the curriculum at an Interfaith Ministry School called Circle of Miracles and they hosted a gathering of graduates this past Sunday. As part of the festivities, graduates had an opportunity to share what’s happened since graduation.

One of the first graduates to share said he was pursuing his dream of working with troubled youth. But then he added, “I’m also writing screenplays. It’s not like I wanted to do this at first but the words kept coming so I had to write them down. I got picked by Spirit to do this, so I am.”

The theme of “getting picked by Spirit” showed up in other sharing. Like the graduate who received multiple requests to do weddings, despite… Continue reading

Twitter Gold

A few months ago I started “tweeting.” I’d crossed the Facebook barrier long ago, but managed to avoid Twitter until recently.

While preparing for the Strong & Wise website launch, many people advised me to create a presence on Twitter. I’d checked out Twitter a few times but each time felt like I’d fallen down the rabbit-hole with Alice.

Abbreviations like “FF” (Follow Friday), hashtags (#), twitter manners and speaking in 140 characters or less were foreign concepts. But I gave up my fear and began tweeting erratically (hoping not to look too foolish).

It’s been a few months of stumbling around and although I’m no expert, it’s starting to make sense now. Sure there’s a lot of empty chatter and sales promotion going on, but here’s… Continue reading
